Mpumalanga police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane says one of the men were arrested in Brondal informal settlement and was charged with contravening the Immigration Act of South Africa, while the other three were apprehended at Barberton Old Mine and were also charged with contravening the Immigration Act.

Charges relating to the possession of gold-bearing material, illicit mining equipment and the possession of explosives were added later.
The four are expected to appear in the Barberton magistrate’s court soon.
