Freedom Motor Group has built its reputation on quality, integrity and exceptional customer service. Now, the well-established Nelspruit business has entered an exciting new chapter by bringing its automotive and motorcycle divisions together under one roof while adding one of the world’s most iconic motorcycle brands, Royal Enfield, to its growing portfolio.

The newly expanded dealership is more than just a place to buy vehicles – it is a destination created for people who share a passion for motoring.

“We have created a lifestyle centre where people can simply come and enjoy the atmosphere,” says Anthony Delpaul, owner of Freedom Motor Group. “Whether you are shopping for your next vehicle or motorcycle or simply want to admire beautiful machines over a great cup of coffee, our doors are open. This is a place where motoring enthusiasts can truly feel at home.”

Built on trust

Freedom Auto has become synonymous with premium-quality new and pre-owned vehicles and motorcycles and customer service throughout Mpumalanga and South Africa. Anthony’s philosophy has remained unchanged throughout his 28-year career in the motor industry.

“I will never sell a vehicle that I would not confidently buy for myself,” he says.

That commitment has helped earn Freedom Auto & Freedom Motorcycles multiple Best of Mbombela awards and a loyal customer base built largely through word-of-mouth recommendations.

Anthony believes the dealership’s greatest strength lies in its people.

“Every member of our team shares the same values. They genuinely enjoy what they do, and I encourage each salesperson to build their own reputation and personal brand. That is exactly how I built my career.”

Combined, the Freedom team brings more than 60 years of industry experience, united by a genuine passion for everything on two and four wheels.

From Mercedes-Benz to Freedom Motor Group

Anthony entered the automotive industry immediately after finishing matric, spending two decades with Mercedes-Benz dealerships before pursuing his entrepreneurial dream.

In 2017 he purchased Nelspruit Bakkie & 4×4 Centre, laying the foundation for what would become Freedom Auto. As the business flourished, so did his vision.

As an avid motorcycle enthusiast, he recognised the growing demand in the motorcycle market. Anthony launched Freedom Motorcycles in 2021 from a modest 130m² showroom specialising in pre-owned Harley-Davidson motorcycles. To reflect the expanding business, the vehicle dealership was rebranded as Freedom Auto, creating a unified identity under the Freedom banner.

Rapid growth soon required larger premises, and by 2023 Freedom Motorcycles relocated to its current facility at 23 Old Pretoria Road in Nelspruit, conveniently situated across from Ilanga Mall.

Growing stronger with leading motorcycle brands

Freedom Motorcycles continued expanding their offering by securing the Hero Motorcycles franchise, supplying commercial delivery motorcycles to both private customers and the rapidly growing delivery sector.

The dealership also supports a rent-to-own Hero motorcycle programme providing ongoing servicing and maintenance for customers throughout the region.

Not long afterwards, another opportunity presented itself. Following the closure of Suzuki’s local dealership, Suzuki South Africa appointed Freedom Motorcycles as its new authorised dealer partner for the Lowveld.

The versatile V-Strom adventure range has quickly become one of the dealership’s strongest performers, while Suzuki’s economical Gixxer 150 continues to attract commuters and first-time riders.

One destination. One passion. One roof.

The latest expansion brings together Freedom Auto and Freedom Motorcycles and the group’s growing range of brands into one modern lifestyle destination. Visitors can now explore quality pre-owned vehicles and premium new and pre-owned motorcycles in one location while enjoying a relaxed environment designed around a shared love of motoring.

Importantly, the consolidation has strengthened, not reduced the business.

“When we brought everything together, every member of our team came with us,” Anthony says. “Each individual has careers in this business and not just a job.”

Welcoming the legendary Royal Enfield

The newest addition to the Freedom family is one of motorcycling’s most respected and historic brands, Royal Enfield.

When the South African importers approached Freedom Motorcycles, Anthony saw an opportunity that perfectly aligned with the dealership’s philosophy.

“Royal Enfield represents heritage, authenticity and the pure enjoyment of motorcycling. We are incredibly proud to bring such an iconic brand to the Lowveld.”

Royal Enfield’s story stretches back to 1901, making it one of the oldest motorcycle manufacturers in continuous production. During the First World War, the company supplied motorcycles to the British military, including sidecar-equipped models. In 1931, Royal Enfield introduced the now-famous Bullet, widely regarded as the longest continuously produced motorcycle model in history.

Today, while the motorcycles retain their timeless styling, they feature thoroughly modern engineering, including electronic fuel injection, electric start, ABS braking systems, disc brakes and advanced electronics.

Freedom Motorcycles now offers Royal Enfield’s complete South African range, from the approachable Hunter 350 to the adventure-ready Himalayan 450 and the powerful 650 Twin models.

“We are extremely excited about the future of the brand,” Anthony says.

Exploring the Lowveld on two wheels

Looking ahead, Freedom Motor Group is preparing to launch Royal Enfield Tours, giving visitors and locals the opportunity to experience the breathtaking scenery of the Lowveld from the seat of a motorcycle.

The programme will feature guided adventures as well as rental motorcycles, with the capable Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 expected to be the flagship touring model for both on and off-road exploration.

More than a dealership

Freedom Motor Group’s new lifestyle centre represents far more than an expansion of showroom space. It reflects nearly three decades of building customer relationships, investing in passionate staff and creating a destination where automotive enthusiasts can gather, explore and share their love for motoring.

Whether you are searching for a premium used vehicle, a dependable commuter bike, an adventure motorcycle or simply a great cup of coffee surrounded by exceptional machinery, Freedom Motor Group invites you to experience everything motoring—now conveniently under one roof.
