Power behind the tech
GWM’s HEV lineup has capabilities that surpass conventional internal-combustion engines (ICE). The electric motors, working in tandem with compact traditional internal combustion engines, deliver exceptional output.

The conventionally powered Haval Jolion Pro also has a 1,5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine that delivers a very respectable 105kW and 210Nm. But the hybrid-electric version kicks out 140kW and 375Nm of torque.

Haval H6 HEV
The conventionally powered Haval H6 also has a 1,5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine that delivers 150kW and 320Nm. The hybrid-electric version, though, kicks out 140kW and 375Nm of torque. And it consumes petrol at a claimed 5l/100km (20km/l).

GWM Tank
The GWM Tank range also gives adventure enthusiasts what GWM describes as “electrifying performance with lower emissions”. Both the Tank 300 Hybrid and Tank 500 Hybrid models pack an impressive 255kW with 648Nm of torque from the combination of a 2-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine coupled with an electric propulsion unit.

P500 HEV bakkie
Shortly after its launch, the P500 HEV won a motoring website’s “Bakkie of the Year 2024” title. It has the same powertrain as the Tank 500 and two Tank models, delivering255kW and 648Nm of torque.
