Four arrested in Pilgrim’s Rest for contravening the Immigration Act

Four suspected illegal immigrants aged between 19 and 23 are expected to appear at Pilgrim's Rest periodical court on Tuesday after they were arrested during a Vala Umgodi operation in Pilgrim's Rest on Friday.

According to Mpumalanga police spokesperson Captain Mpho Nonyane the four were arrested during a stop-and-search operation in Pilgrim’s Rest. They have been charged with contravening the Immigration Act of South Africa after they could not provide valid documentation to be in the country.

Eight people were killed this morning when a minibus taxi and a truck collided on the N4 between Ngodwana and Waterval Onder. One person sustained critical injuries.
