She says that these two boards play a crucial role to ensure that the department fulfills its mandate to stimulate economic growth and development in the province and to create sustainable and decent employment, economic transformation and to alleviate poverty.
“The appointment of Fish Mahlalela as chairperson of the board of the MTPA gives me renewed hope that we are on the right path towards repositioning the entity as a driver of tourism development in the province. He has experience in government, and once served as deputy minister of tourism, among other leadership roles in government. The outgoing MTPA interim board under his leadership has done an outstanding job in turning the MTPA around.
“I am equally pleased by the appointment of Jabulani Mahlangu, a previous MEC, who took over the reins as the interim chairperson of MEGA.”
She says both the MTPA and MEGA are crucial entities in the province, driving the economic growth and development agenda of Mpumalanga.

“Without leadership stability they will not be able to consistently deliver on their respective legislative mandates”, said Sidell.

For MEGA, the new eleven (11) Board members are as follows:

- Noxolo Zephania Oyiya

The two boards will serve for a period of four years.
Oupa Pilane, chairperson of the Mpumalanga Tourism Think Tank, extended his congratulations to the newly appointed board of the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA).
“In particular, I congratulate Fish Mahlalela on his confirmation as chairperson and Sizile Ndlovu on his appointment to the board.
“We hope that the new board will continue to strengthen the relationship with the Mpumalanga Tourism Think Tank. We look forward to working closely with you,” he said.
