Two other suspected poachers managed to flee.
A doctor treated the wounded poacher at the scene before he was transported to a local hospital.

SANParks spokesperson JP Louw says police together with the local criminal record centre processed the crime scene and a heavy-calibre rifle was recovered at the scene.
The search for the remaining suspects continues.
