MTPA spokesperson Simphiwe Shungube says no person may harvest, collect, remove, damage, or disturb any plant, animal, fish, firewood, soil, rock, or any other natural resource within the area without prior written authorisation from the MTPA.
“The MTPA is the appointed management authority of the Loskop Dam Nature Reserve and is responsible for the control, administration, and protection of all natural and cultural resources within the protected area.

“These enforcement measures are necessary to ensure the conservation of biodiversity, the protection of ecological integrity, and the sustainable use of natural resources for the benefit of present and future generations.
“We will continue to monitor and act decisively against illegal activities, and any person found to be operating outside the law will be prosecuted and subjected to the full extent of applicable penalties,” he says.
