Police seizes dagga worth almost R5 million near Oshoek

Police made a major breakthrough when they arrested two suspects in possession of dagga worth more than R4,7 million near the Oshoek Port of Entry yesterday.

Oupa Simon Mohape (33) and Siyabonga Eric Sine (34) were arrested on charges of dealing in dagga.

According to Mpumalanga police spokesperson Colonel Donald Mdhluli, police were doing routine patrol duties near the Redhill off-ramp when they spotted a white Toyota Hilux, branded with the logo of a courier company. When they stopped the vehicle, they discovered large wrapped packages containing more than a tonne of dagga in the back of the bakkie.

Mohape and Sine appeared in Elukwatini magistrates court on the same day and the case was postponed to 29 April for a formal bail application.
