Woman killed in drive-by shooting in Mbombela city centre
A 36-year-old woman was shot and killed early this morning in the Mbombela city centre next to a bus terminal in full view of early commuters.
The woman was on her way to work at around 05:20 this morning when she was shot in her upper body in an alleged drive-by-shooting involving a white Isuzu bakkie.
Police as well as medical emergency personnel were summoned to the scene where the woman was certified dead.
“The motive behind the killing is unknown at this stage but it is possible it was an act of domestic violence. No arrest has been made so far,” says Mpumalanga police spokesperson Colonel Donald Mdhluli.
Police urge anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspect to contact Detective Colonel Thamsanqa Mkhaliphi on 082 408 5631. Alternatively, members of the public can call the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111 or send information via MySAPS app. All received information will be treated confidentially and callers may remain anonymous.
