Sinani soccer player invited to join U17 national team
Sinani United Football Club goalkeeper and third captain Brendan Langa has received the call-up to join the Amajimbos, South Africa’s national under-17 team.
He joined the team camp today as a late call-up. The camp officially started yesterday.
“This is a huge honour for us, as he is the very first Sinani United FC player since I became the coach to represent our country. We are so proud of this young man,” says Cyril Morele, Sinani United Football Club head coach.

Brendan is currently in Grade 11 at the Portia Shabangu High School. He started playing soccer when he was in Tekwane Primary with the Tekwane Sports Academy and is currently playing for Sinani United in the Forek U17 Development league.
“We must give credit to the Forek league as a great channel for players in the region,” says Morele.
The Amajimbos will play two friendlies against Lesotho on 16 and 18 August. The team will use these two matches to prepare for the 2024 U17 COSAFA Championships that will be held in December this year.
After these friendly matches, Amajimbos will participate in a Six Nations Talent Development Scheme (TDS) tournament in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, from 2 to 8 September.
“We are not yet sure if Brendan will play in these matches. It will depend on his performance during the camp. But we really hope he will,” Morele says.
