Rocking for animal welfare
The annual Woofstock Music Festival in aid of Pro-Life Pet Rescue, Rehabilitation and Adoption Agency was recently held The Pub in Nelspruit.
Organised by Mrs Mpumalanga first runner-up for 2023, Monique O’Reilly, the event raised R38 274 – R6 500 more than last year.
The day started with live rock music and there were raffles and lucky draws throughout the day. There were a couple of items up for auction, which led to some spirited bidding from the crowd.
Local bands Hopeless Heroes, Slick Velvet, Voodoo Kudu, The Acoustics, Soul Taxi, Riaan van Rensburg, Dare to Believe, and La Cobra were not put off by the sweltering heat and their energetic performances had the crowd on their feet.
An air-guitar contest and a competition for the best-dressed person contributed to the fun.
People were encouraged to donate dog and cat food. At the end of the day about 295kg of dog food were donated.
Monique has already started planning Woofstock 2023 and hopes to raise even more money for this worthy cause.
