Police investigating death of a Bushbuckridge boy amid allegations of food poisoning
Police in Mpumalanga are investigating the death of a two-year-old boy in Violetbank near Bushbuckridge earlier today.
Mpumalanga police spokesperson Colonel Donald Mdhluli says police in Bushbuckridge responded to a call regarding siblings, aged two, three, four and five, who were experiencing stomach aches. Medical personnel who attended the scene indicated that the youngest child had died. The remaining siblings were taken to a nearby hospital, where they received medical attention. Two of the children have been discharged, while the fourth one remains in the care of the hospital.
Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
A team of police investigators in collaboration with health experts and other role players are looking into allegations made concerning the food consumed by the children prior to falling ill.
