“The C7 is designed for drivers who value style, versatility, and cutting-edge technology,” says Hans Greyling, general manager for OMODA & JAECOO South Africa. “The C7 combines head-turning design with practical functionality and, importantly, value for money, making it a compelling choice for South African roads.

The C7’s exterior has a distinctive X-shaped frameless grille, slim LED headlights with integrated daytime running lights, and red-painted brake calipers. The body lines flow seamlessly from front to back and has 19-inch wheels, with SHS plug-in hybrid variants on 20-inch alloys. OMODA, of course, has a dealership in Nelspruit.

“Every detail has been crafted to ensure the C7 commands attention, whether navigating city streets or cruising on the highway,” says Greyling.

The C7 petrol derivative has a turbocharged 1,6-litre four-cylinder engine that produces 145kW and 290Nm of torque, paired with a smooth-shifting seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The combination delivers responsive acceleration, and a claimed fuel consumption figure of just 7,5l/100km. Handling and ride comfort are enhanced by a MacPherson strut front suspension and a multilink rear setup, with front ventilated discs and rear solid discs providing the stopping.

The C7 SHS plug-in hybrid pairs a 1,5-litre turbocharged engine with an electric motor, generating a combined 255kW and 525Nm. Its dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT) offers an all-electric range of 105 km, and a total range of approximately 1 200km.

The C7 SHS is has an 18,4kWh LFP (lithium-ion phosphate) battery that can charge from 30-80% in just 20 minutes via a 40kW fast charger, or from 25-100% in 160 minutes when plugged into a 6,6kW charger. Overall fuel consumption drops to a claimed 5l/100 km, while C02 emissions fall to just 30g/km. Both models feature Eco, Normal, and Sport driving modes.

The modern, minimalist interior boasts black leather upholstery, electrically adjustable front seats with heating and ventilation, and a driver’s seat memory function. Dual-zone climate control is also standard on both trims.

“Technology is at the forefront of the C7 experience. The driver benefits from an 8,88-inch digital-display cluster providing all essential driving information at a glance, while a 15,6-inch infotainment display integrates vehicle controls, climate settings, and media. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth connectivity provide seamless integration with smartphones.”

Entertainment is delivered via an eight-speaker Sony sound system in the petrol model and a Sony 12-speaker setup in the SHS, complemented by a 50-watt wireless charging pad. Intelligent high-beam assist, automatic headlights, and multicolour ambient lighting allow drivers to personalise the cabin environment for every journey.
