Three burnt alive in Barberton during a suspected mob-justice incident

Three men were burnt alive in Barberton yesterday in a suspected mob-justice incident.

The three were suspected by some community members of being involved in a series of house robberies in the area.

According to police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane, police received information at approximately 11:45 yesterday about an incident of mob justice in Barberton Extension 10 (Koperi). Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of a man who had allegedly been assaulted and set alight using vehicle tyres.

A short while later, at around 12:20, police were alerted to a second similar incident at the Extension 13 sports grounds, where another victim was also found burnt. 

At around 17:15 a third victim was found at Extension 14.

No arrests have been made yet.
