Mozambican in possession of crystal meth worth R4,2 million arrested at Lebombo border

Police arrested a 36-year-old Mozambican in possession of R4,2 million worth of crystal meth at the Lebombo Border in Komatipoort on Friday evening.

According to Mpumalanga police spokesperson Colonel Donald Mdhluli, police were conducting routine searches at the border when a white Toyota minibus came from Mozambique heading into South Africa. When they searched the vehicle, they discovered a false compartment containing the drugs.

The consignment weighed approximately 17 000 grams, with an estimated value of about R4,25 million. 

The man was charged with the illegal possession of drugs and was expected to appear in the Komatipoort magistrate’s court this morning.
