Man to appear in court over shooting of his partner

A 29-year-old woman, Wandile Lucia Khoza, was fatally shot on Tuesday at her work place in Malelana, near Komatipoort. She was allegedly shot by her partner.

A 31-year-old man handed himself over to the police at Malelana. He further handed his private firearm to the police and the seized weapon will form part of the investigation. The man is said to be a member of the South African National Defence Force based in Middelburg.

The incident is said to have occurred around 15:45 as the woman was preparing to leave the Nkomazi Municipality offices.

According to the information at the police’s disposal, the suspect entered the premises of the Nkomazi Municipality where an argument ensued between the two, resulting in the fatal shooting. The suspect fled the scene.

The woman was certified dead at the scene.

The suspect is due to appear before the Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court tomorrow on a charge of murder.
