Two suspects, aged 25 and 34, were arrested on Wednesday for housebreaking, shoplifting and theft out of motor vehicles in Graskop.

Man killed and robbed of car and pistol at water reservoir in Steiltes

An employee of a company contracted to the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison in Mpumalanga was killed and robbed of his white VW Golf 7 and service pistol at the water reservoir (soccer ball) in Steiltes, Nelspruit, last night.

According to Mpumalanga police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, Nelspruit police received a report about a shooting incident at around 19:30. Upon arrival, they found a man that was later identified as Silvester Samkelo Nkosi (34) in a pool of blood. 

Paramedics certified him dead at the scene.

No one has been arrested so far, but the preliminary investigation indicates that Nkosi was with a woman when two armed men attacked them. The woman was reportedly unharmed during the incident, and she went to call for help at a nearby filling station when the robbers fled with Nkosi’s car and firearm.
