Lowvelders invited to potjiekos competition in aid of Mpumalanga Blind Skills Development Hub
Two teams of the Mpumalanga Blind Skills Development Hub are challenging Lowvelders to a cook-off to earn the bragging rights for the best potjiekos in the Lowveld.
The event will take place at Bush Baby Pub & Grill just outside Nelspruit on the Kaapsehoop Road and will start at 09:30 on 22 July. Teams of a maximum of two participants per team may enter at an entry fee of R150 per team.
Fires will be provided, and teams must provide their own ingredients, cutlery, crockery and decorations.
Teams will have from 09:30 to 11:00 to set up and decorate their area, and the actual cooking will take place from 11:00 to 14:30. Judging will take place from 14:30 to 15:00, after which the selling of the food will start.
Potjiekos will be sold after the competition to raise money for the Mpumalanga Blind Skills Development Hub. Teams are required to sell the content of their potjies, using any means possible, whether it be by auction, over the telephone or online, or at the venue, as long as proof of payment can be shown. The proceeds will be divided between the team and the Mpumalanga Blind Skills Development Hub.
Bush Baby Pub & Grill will remain open after the competition and everybody is invited to stay and enjoy the rest of the evening.
