Flowers and vintage cars offer unique experience for lovers of art

The Nelspruit Lenteblommeklub earlier this month wowed Lowvelders with a unique show of talent and creativity at the Casterbridge Motor Museum in White River.

Apart from the more than 40 flower arrangements on display, members of 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day were also in attendance, showcasing the beautiful blankets they had made for this very worthwhile charity.

A total of sixteen florists took part in the show and competed in five classes.

The Cut, Bend and Fold, Oops! Spare Wheel and Spare Extravaganza classes were won by Willem Cloete, Nature’s Gift was won by Nattaniah Kuhn and Eleonora Williams took the top honours in the Wreath for a Winner class.

Sophie Hugo and Alma Badenhorst were the judges, and the prize-giving took place during the official opening of the show where guests were treated to a delightful cheese-and-wine spread, with Eduard Liebenberg on duty as the master of ceremonies.

“The combination of the lovingly handcrafted works of the 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day organisation in White River, the amazing floral designs, and the charm of the vintage cars resulted in a unique and captivating blend of art, beauty, style, and machinery,” says Ansie Cilliers, chairperson of the Nelspruit Lenteblommeklub.

“The more than 100 visitors to our show thoroughly enjoyed the event and we are definitely planning another show for next year.”
