Extra Mile Golf Day offers corporates the opportunity to make a difference

The Extra Mile Golf Day, sponsored by Pronto Computers, is set to take place on 14 June at the Mbombela Golf Club. The day will include a spectacular 18 holes of golf, followed by a dinner, prize giving and an auction of exceptional experiences, including luxury getaways.

This exciting event serves as a media launch for non-profit organisation More Community Foundation’s (MCF) seventh annual Extra Mile Trail Run scheduled for 7 September in Huntington Village in the greater Bushbuckridge area.

More Community Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the MORE Family Collection group. Its mission is to foster self-sustainable community projects that empower local communities to use their own efforts and skills, ensuring long-term success and sustainability.

The Extra Mile golf day promises not only a day of fun and competition on the greens, but also an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of many.

“We invite golfers of all levels to join us for a day dedicated to community upliftment and environmental conservation,” says Michelle Scott, general manager of the MCF.

Also known as the “Trail Run with Heart”, the Extra Mile Trail Run was launched in 2018 as a MCF fundraising initiative to provide support to people in rural communities, coupled with the conservation of endangered species.

The annual trail run takes participants through the heart of Bushbuckridge community’s villages and the beautiful rangelands bordering the Sabi Sand Game Reserve.

We invite golfers of all levels to join us for a day dedicated to community upliftment and environmental conservation.

“The Huntington community, both the beneficiaries of the cause and the physical location of the Extra Mile Trail Run, is among the most impoverished areas in the country. Many families are living on the breadline, struggling to meet basic needs such as food, let alone participating in events like a trail run.

“This event is more than just a run; it’s a cause brimming with purpose and passion, blending a love for running (or walking), community development, and conservation,” says Scott.

The race categories included the Rhino (5km), Pangolin (10km), Wild Dog (21km), and Virtual Run, each dedicated to raising awareness of the urgent need for the protection and conservation of these endangered species.
