The Electoral Commission urged all eligible South African voters to use the last opportunity to register to vote in the 2024 general elections before the proclamation of the election date in the Government Gazette tomorrow at midnight.

Once the date has been published in the Government Gazette, the voters’ roll will close and no more registrations will be allowed.

The Independent Electoral Commission reiterated its commitment and readiness to ensure a successful 2024 general elections after a successful voter registration campaign that included two general registration weekends, an overseas voter registration drive, campus activations and registration at correctional services centres.

Following this overall voter registration campaign, the voters’ roll now stands at 27,6 million voters.

Unregistered voters and those who need to update their address details can visit local municipality offices of the Electoral Commission, go to the online voter registration portal or use the WhatsApp line on 0600 88 00 00.

Eligible voters are reminded that they must register in the area where they live and vote at the voting station where they are registered.
