For its November networking event, the women of the South African Council for Business Women enjoyed a day in the outdoors bowling at the Lowveld Country Club in Nelspruit.

For many of the attendees it was their first contact with the sport, but this by no means put a damper on their enthusiasm. Sixty women, of which 49 tried their hand at bowling, attended the event.

The Nelspruit branch of the South African Council of Business Women (SACBW) is a powerful sisterhood where women can network with like-minded women and find support for their daily challenges and successes.

Tracy-Erin Duggan, local business leader for Nelspruit, says any woman involved with business in any way is welcome to join the SACBW, no matter what the size of the business is.

“Even women planning to open a business and who need mentoring and support are welcome to join. We work very hard to cultivate a diverse membership of different races, cultures, ages, and backgrounds so that everybody can feel at home. We are here to help one another,” she says.

Estelle Roe, regional business leader for Mpumalanga, says members never stand alone.

“We consider one another as family. We network, we make friends, and we support. Members come with new ideas we can all benefit from. We need one another, not only from a business perspective, but also for support on an emotional and spiritual level,” she says.
