Building a home where love will flourish
A home is the starting place of love, hope, and dreams. And this is exactly what Provincial Mpumalanga MS finalist Carlette Alberts and a team of sponsors gave a Bushbuckridge family when they built a house for them.
“It all started when Lesley Dibakoane of Retshepile Funeral reached out and gathered a team to build a house for a single mother and her six children,” Carlette says.
The team consisted of Carlette and Lesley, Gwnyth Theunissen of Build it Hazyview, Stefan Bossert of KwikBuild Cement, and Neels Botes from Erack Solutions.
“I am so grateful for all the donations, building materials, and supplies that made it possible for us to build the house for this amazing mother and her children,” Carlette says.
She says she learnt a few valuable life lessons from the experience.
“We take so much for granted every day. While handing over the keys to the house, I broke the heel of my shoe when it got stuck in the mud due to all the rain. I almost complained about that, and then realised how thankful one should actually be,” Carlette says.
“It was absolutely phenomenal to see the gratitude on the mother’s face when she received the keys to the new house. They now have the opportunity to live in this lovely home without having to worry about flooding like they used to.
“Nothing compares to knowing I made someone’s life better by doing something so small,” she says.
