Blessing Sunday believes giving back makes business sense

Members of the South African Council for Business Woman (SACBW) have grown used to Blessing Sunday and her group of women of La Grace Properties dressed in yellow accompanying her to monthly meetings.

It was therefore no surprise when Blessing, who is the founder, owner and principal of La Grace Properties, was nominated in two categories of the SACBW recognition awards: Business Women of the Year, and Warrior Woman.

La Grace Properties is a one-stop shop for all things property-related.

Our strategy is to go into previously disadvantaged communities that used to be under-serviced in the past. We have the advantage of being an all-black woman-owned agency

“We do commercial and residential property sales and management, renovations, inspections, and valuations,” says Blessing.

She also offers an introduction to real estate training programme for previously disadvantaged people who never realised that they could follow a career in real estate.

She is currently studying towards a degree in business administration.

Her responsibilities as CEO of La Grace properties include growing the business, making sure that agents are equipped to be successful in the field, marketing the business and making sure that the business complies with all legal and regulatory requirements. You will also find her in the field selling houses.

“Our strategy is to go into previously disadvantaged communities that used to be under-serviced in the past. We have the advantage of being an all-black woman-owned agency,” she says.

Blessing had to work very hard to accomplish what she has in her life.

“I come from a background where I was abused and my parents forced me into marriage instead of sending me to school. In the end I had to put myself through school,” she says.

Today Blessing is married and has four children. Apart from La Grace Properties, she runs a few other businesses as well and sits on the boards of various not-for-profit organisations.

But, above all, she is a child of God.

She is passionate about women and young people. Every year she runs a programme called Raising the Queen Esther Generation to teach women to be fearless and to stand up for their families.

Above all, Blessing Sunday is a child of God.

We go out in the community and find those who are in need and bless them with food and clothes, and minister the word of God to them.

She is also involved with the Work of Love Foundation, which is affiliated with the Gilgal Church.

The Foundation was established in March 2020 and the purpose is to give love to the needy.

“We give love to the rejected, the poor, street kids, orphans, those who had been arrested and the sick. We go out in the community and find those who are in need and bless them with food and clothes, and minister the word of God to them,” she says.

“My responsibility is to identify areas where we are needed and to raise the funds needed. This is how I give back,” she says.

To balance her life as a pastor, business woman, social entrepreneur, wife and mother, Blessing makes time for her husband, children and spiritual life. And she makes time to rest when she is tired.

“I am proud to be a business owner and a committee member of the SACBW. I struggled through a lot to get where I am today. Through the SACBW I found my voice and the courage to do what I have to do. I needed a sisterhood and a platform to network. I found that within the SACBW. The SACBW is my home.”
